Stockholm dog fair (Nordic winner show)
We took all the dogs with us "just" for a weekend trip to Stockholm. Nola and Evi will participate in the dog show in Stockholm, our last show this year. And of course we can't leave Fido at home, so she comes with us.
Stay in a city nearby
Because it's a 4-hour drive and the show starts early in the morning, we leave on Friday afternoon to a house in Södertälje, half an hour from the show. A sweet little house with just a bedroom, kitchen and bathroom. Perfect for us and our dogs. The only downside is that we didn't sleep much because we had to share the bed with 3 dogs... There was no door between the kitchen and the bedroom, and even though the dogs all have their own dog bed, the human bed is always the most comfortable ;)
First impression
A show in the big city, but easily accessible and plenty of parking space. The entrance went smoothly and we quickly found our ring and secured a nice spot with a great view on the ring. The show is divided into two days, with our breed group (group 8) taking part on Saturday. This is very common in Sweden and therefore the show itself is slightly less busy. The show is divided into two halls. There were only show rings in hall B, where we were in. In hall A there were all kinds of trade stands and information stands in addition to the show rings. I personally liked that we were in the quiet hall. There were many visitors and Nola was laying on the grooming table attracting the attention of all passers-by, so I was able to chat with several people and tell them about our kennel.
Evi
Evi is just 9 months old and this is her first time in the junior class. I took more time to let Evi get used to the situation and the crowds by walking a few laps in the hall. Several people petted her and we did a warming-up before we entered the ring. The competition was fierce, a large group with 13 other cockers, of which Evi was the youngest. She did a great job, walked well and was calm and stable on the table. Evi received the rating "very good" with a comment from the judge that she needs a little more time to grow up.
"9 month old bitch, beautiful head and expression, good proportions, angulated enough, quite puppyish and gets a bit high behind when she moves, good coat quality, needs time to mature and get better."
Judge: Kari Granaas Hansen
Nola
Nola also had a lot of competition. Besides Nola, 12 other cockers participated in the open class bitches. Nola was at the front of the group and this has advantages and disadvantages. For me it is a great advantage that I can set the pace myself and that I'm not dependent on the dogs in front of me. A disadvantage is that you have to put the dog on the table immediately after the group round. This time it meant that I had little time to properly position Nola before the judge came to me. The judge didn't wait but "helped" me stack Nola and I noticed that this made me a bit out of sorts and it was difficult for me to get myself together afterwards, but Nola did well despite that. Nola received the rating "very good" with a nice report.
"Could have a nobler head and more feminine expression. Good proportions, very well developed body, normally angled, somewhat high behind when standing or moving, good length of stride, excellent coat quality, happy tail when moving"
Judge: Kari Granaas Hansen
We learn more from every participation in dog shows and I feel more and more at home in the show world. After the show we went back to our accommodation in Södertälje and had a lovely walk with the dogs. I am very proud of how our dogs did this weekend.
